"Quantum key distribution for telecom applications" - Davide Bacco Seminario del convegno UMI DeCifris del 2021. Abstract:Our society is based on the continuous exchange of sensitive data and information which are distributed all over the world. Thus we are living in a world in which the importance of secure and trustful communications is essential. Quantum key distribution (QKD) allows to share data in an information- theoretical secure way, no longer based on computational assumptions but exploiting the basic principles of quantum physics. During the last decades, different QKD protocols have been developed and tested over fiber links. Nevertheless, this technology is still far from a large-scale deployment in existing fiber networks and telecom infrastructures, due to multiple factors: limited distance between users, lack of applications, high costs and high requirements in terms of low-noise fiber links. In our work, we present a demonstration of an integrated QKD system in a real-application over a deployed fiber link. Our system pave the way for a more direct application of QKD in the existing fiber network and infrastructure. UMI Crittografia e Codici: https://sites.google.com/view/crittog...
