The coolant temperature sensor is a very important part of your car's engine. It measures the coolant temperature, sends a signal to the car's ECU, which then displays it on the temperature gauge. It also uses that signal to adjust the air/fuel mixture and, in lots of cases, to regulate how the thermostat works. So, all in all, very important, and when it fails, it can cause lots of problems.
