It's a traditional Kannur/Malabar style Chicken Curry Non Veg Curry Recipes Varutharacha Chicken Curry ---------------------------------------------------- Ingredients For roasting --------------------- Grated Coconut 1 cup Onion 1 small peppercorn 1 Tbsp Turmeric powder 1/2 Tsp Chicken masala 1 Tsp Red chilli powder 1/2 Tsp Coriander powder 3 Tsp Coconut oil 1 Tbsp some curry leaves In a pan add oil and fry grated coconut, onion, peppercorn and some curry leaves till its golden brown in color. After that add turmeric powder, coriander powder, chicken masala and red chilli powder. Saute it for 2 mins and take it off. After its cool down completely grind it to a fine paste and keep it aside For Making curry ---------------------------------------------- Chicken 500gm Chopped Onion - 2 medium Chopped Tomato -2 medium Greenchilli -2 Chopped coconut pieces around 2 Tbsp Curry leaves Mustard seed Turmeric powder 1/2 Tsp Chicken masala 1/2 Tsp pepper powder 1.5 Tsp Salt to taste Wash chicken thoroughly. Put salt and keep it aside. In this chicken add 5 Tbsp of fried coconut paste made. Marinate the chicken nicely with this paste and keep it aside for 30mins. Take a pan or kadai. Add 1.5 Tbsp coconut oil. Once it hot add mustard seed. After it pops add curry leaves and coconut pieces. Saute it till coconut pieces are light brown in color. After that add onion and green chilli it. Saute it till onion are light brown. Then add tomatoes, turmeric and chicken masala and saute it till tomatoes become paste. After that add the marinated chicken and cook it by putting lid closed,without adding water, in low flame. After some time water will come from chicken. At that time add the remaining fried coconut paste and enough water for gravy. After 5 mins add 1 .5 Tsp pepper powder to it and cook till oil seperates from chicken Delicious and tasty chicken curry is ready..
