In this video, I'll show you a step by step way to make a $15 budget friendly Christmas dinner for 3. I challenged myself to make the whole dinner on one sheet pan as often oven space is limited & makes making an elaborate dinner difficult to complete all at once. I included my recipes & recommendations below. If you found this helpful in any way, please poke the like & subscribe button to let me know. Thank you! Cressent Rolls 1/3 cup warm water 10 mini marshmallows 1 tsp yeast Mix together & let the yeast grow for 10 min. There should be foam on top after 10 min to show the yeast is active. Add: 1 & 1/2 cup all purpose flour And knead for 10 minutes. Let rest for 20 min. Then, roll it out. Put several thin pats of butter on the surface, fold it, then repeat the process with the butter pats and rolling it out again about 3 more times. Roll it out into a Rectangular shape. Cut out long triangles. Take each triangle and roll it like a cinnamon roll, starting from the wide end. Place on the sheet pan. Apple Turnovers: For the crust: 1 cup of all purpose flour 5 tbs cold margarine 1/3 cup cold water Filling: 1 can of apple pie filling 1 Tbs margarine Cut the margarine into the flour, then mix the cold water in. Roll out a small ball of dough (about 2 inches in diameter) to about 1/8 an inch. Put 2 heaping tablespoons of the apple pie filling. Put 1/3 of the pat of butter on the pie filling. Wrap the pie crust around the filling and use a fork to help seal and make a design on the edges of the turn over. Cut 3 slits in the crust on the top to help release steam to keep the crust from getting soggy and to help you see when it is bubbling out indicating they are done baking. Put each turnover on the sheet pan. Sweet Potato Roses 2 sweet potatoes peeled 1/4 cup mini marshmallows 2 Tbs margarine cut into cubes 6 tooth picks Use a peeler to peel the sweet potato into thin round medallions. Line the medallions up, slightly overlapping, into a long line. Roll the medallion line up starting at one end and moving toward the opposite end. Secure the rose with 2 toothpicks. As you make each rose, place it on the sheet pan and top each with several cubes of butter and several marshmallows. Apple Glazed Ham: 1 ham steak 1/2 can of apple pie filling Place the ham steak on the pan. Spread the apple pie filling in an even layer on top of the ham. Scalloped Potatoes: 2 small potatoes peeled 2 Tbs margarine 1/4 cup hot water 1 bullion cube Cut the potatoes into little round medallions. Crush & melt the bullion cube into the hot water to make a bullion water mixture. Put the medallions around the ham steak. Use a pastry brush to brush the potatoes with the bullion cube water mixture. Stick small pats of margarine on top of the medallions. Green Bean Bundles: The leftover bullion & hot water mixture from the Scalloped potatoes 1/2 lb green beans with the ends cut off 1 package of corned beef slices Brush the green beans with the bullion cube water mixture using a pastry brush. Take about 5 green beans and one slice of the corned beef that you Ave folded into a strip. Wrap the green beans with the strip of corned beef and place on the sheet pan. Repeat the process for the remaining green beans. Corn Bites: 1 shucked ear of corn The remainder hot water bullion cube mixture 1 Tbs margarine Cut the ends off the ear of Corn, then cut the ear into about 5 slices. Brush each slice with the water and bullion cube mixture using a pastry brush. Then place each slice on the sheet pan. Put a small cube of margarine on each Corn slice. Bake the whole pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour & 10 minutes. Recommendations: Cook it longer than I did - at least 70min. Another option would be to microwave the green beans, sweet potatoes, and potato elements for 4 minutes, then transfer them to the sheet and bake with everything else at 350 for 1 hour. Those dishes would have benefitted from more bake time. Buy a tube of great value croissants and use those for your turnovers and croissants instead of buying flour and yeast. Without salt and real butter the crust and croissants just weren't as good. If your budget allows for those things it will turn out well, but the outcome with the ingredients I had access to was not worth the extra effort of making it from scratch. put more bullion on the potatoes and green beans. I would brush them again when taking them out of the oven to serve. I just didn't put enough on them. The croissants and turnovers got soggy on the bottoms because of the juice created by the other elements, so I would also put those two things on a square of tin foil and wrap the tin foil a bit to give some separation from the other dishes. #Cookwithme #extremegrocerybudgetchallenge #walmartgroceryhaul #sheetpanmeal #Christmasdinner #budgetfriendlymeals #Reset #rachelresets Music by Epidemic Sound Video Edited Using CapCut ✉️ For Business Inquiries contact Rachel at: [email protected]
