Is the Ellen show shutting down? The recent reported allegations of the production and set of the show being a very toxic and unhealthy work environment certainly imply that. The Ellen Show is probably the most popular and famous talk show in not just Hollywood, but throughout the globe. It has been running successfully for years, and millions of fans worldwide absolutely love watching it. But however, it seems that although the message that the show emphasizes on and spreads, that is, “be kind”, and despite Ellen herself having a clean public image without any smear; the inner workings of the show seem to quite dark and controversial. There have been many complaints about the fact that in spite of the cheery and gleeful demeanor of the entire show that is recorded on camera and viewed by the public, the workplace for the employees, the actual ones who the show depends for successful running and airing, is quite toxic and negative. Although the PR team has responded to the drama, it’s certainly not enough. They put forward a statement saying that they’ve had a very long production history and have hired over 1000 staff members, and throughout they are continuously trying to create a safe and inclusive work environment. If they’ve not been successful in doing so and even one single employee has, even for once, felt threatened and harassed in the work space provided to them, they are truly apologetic for that and strive to do better; for their mission is to handle the responsibility of the Ellen show seriously, and they are trying to do better each and every day. However, this statement doesn’t seem to be sufficient in pacifying the entire situation where many, many former employees and staff members have come forward with many complaints, which are unjustifiable and bad to look at from all angles. The executive producers of the show are the ones at the crossfire. Many people working in the show have complained that the show runners, the executive producers themselves, are responsible for not maintaining a healthy workplace environment. There have been accusations of bullying, mean and insulting comments, and in general, a work atmosphere that is quite opposite of being far and healthy. It might seem that the people who get a chance to work in the show are extremely lucky and couldn’t be asking for a better fortune; however, it seems that is apparently not the case. As many former employees and staff have companied, that in spite of all these unflattering and rather serious accusations, no actions have been taken by the people in charge to even make an effort to change the environment for the better. Instead, they’ve added, to the degree of almost boasting, that they will never face any trouble in finding replacements, as a lot of people are willing to work at the show, thus implying that those with a problem with the management could leave anytime they wanted to. Now, while that might actually be true, people do find it intriguing to work there; it certainly is not acceptable for the producers to be using that as leverage, especially when there are so many complaints about how things work under their control. Ellen herself has had some allegations reported against her, although they are not much lethal. But still, many employees have complained about Ellen resorting to her celebrity persona and not acknowledging the people working under her at all; not even for keeping up obligatory workplace decorum like exchanging pleasantries. People have even said that she has very high expectations from all the workers, which, in all honesty, isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it certainly takes its toll when it is absolutely rigid and borders on mania; and it certainly gets the better off of the people actually working there.
