While Max wakes from her coma and is reunited with Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin), Holly faces Vecna alone as she discovers she’s very far from the Upside Down.  When asked how Sink felt that Max was saved, but not by someone with powers like Millie Bobby Brown’s character Eleven, and instead by Holly, Sink stated:   During episode 7’s emotional reunion between Max and Lucas, it’s Max who reveals that the Kate Bush song "Running Up That Hill" didn’t save her, but it was Lucas who truly saved Max from her tragic fate. Sink spoke of her character’s relationship with Lucas with Vulture and said:  It’s unclear how the series will end, and if Max and Lucas will end up staying together or if fate has other plans, but the reunion is short-lived as the gang plans to end Vecna once and for all.
