Fact 1 – Lions live in families Lions are the only big cats that live in groups, called prides. A pride can have up to 30 lions. They hunt together, raise their cubs together, and protect each other like one big family. Fact 2 – The females do most of the hunting In most prides, lionesses are the main hunters. The males usually protect the pride and territory. They work as a team, surround their prey, and use teamwork to bring it down. Fact 3 – A lion’s roar is extremely powerful A lion’s roar can be heard from as far as 8 kilometers away. They roar to warn intruders, call their pride members, and show dominance. Fact 4 – Lions sleep… a lot Lions can sleep up to 20 hours a day. They rest during the heat and become more active at night.
