Travis Orbin - Chronicles Session - "Follow," "Torment," & "The Realm"

As with the other vids from this session, this is my own 'video mix' and it deviates greatly from the record. Notes: "Follow" -drum intro features a 16th trip figure occurring on a 16th upbeat -1:23 - pretty crazy fill-in to cap off the dynamics of the section -1:36 - ding -2:51 - heavy tribalish pattern when drums re-enter "Torment" -5:03 - ding -5:19, 5:27 - brief hi-hat orchestration complements guitar -6:02 - big 8th quint to foreshadow the next section -6:04 - 6:10 - ouch -6:46 - I like the dynamics employed here, how the downbeat is accented, then there's a larger accent on the following beat; this theme is sustained in some way for the rest of the section -7:09 - 7:24 - all difficult stuff, but I feel the dynamics build efficiently -7:24 - 7:38 - way cornball and way fun -8:18 - heavy! the accented/non-accented ghosted hats are key -8:31 - really dig the 16th quint fill-ins here -8:35 - I'm closing my Hi-hat Razer tightly here to be able to perform part of the outro "The Realm" -intro is pretty brutally difficult, esp the fill-in going into the first verse -12:19 - getting playful with the hi-hat here, same with this section's reprise at 12:49 -13:28 - 13:40 - rapid-fire (mostly) linear pattern -13:40 - 13:45 - things cool down briefly with a more simpler, more colorful pattern with double bass anchoring -14:58, 15:35 - cool fill-ins; the second almost makes it feel like it breaks out of the 6 for a moment For gear inquiries, head here or leave a comment: http://travisorbin.com/equipment.htm If you'd like to purchase all of the isolated drum videos for this session, head here: https://travisorbin2.bigcartel.com/pr...
