Riding through Canggu to Umalas - May 2022

Went for a ride through Canggu earlier today. Not being a fan of the place, it was just to see how much things have changed. It's busy, like the pandemic never came, and buildings have gone up despite there being a pandemic. Notice all the bule (foreigners) riding with no helmets, it's a place that very pretentious. I remember years ago I would say "Canggu" (pronounced Chan-goo) and no one would have heard of the place. 'Old Mans' is still Old Mans, and a lot is still the same. It's great they fixed one of the roads to the beach that was just white limestone two years ago, and now the bitumen looks like it's been there 20 plus years. The biggest improvement would have to be the Canggu Shortcut. What used to be pavers that would wash or break away has now been bituminised, and it appears cars can only go one way now, which would make a hell of a lot of sense given the amount of cars that used to go over the edge pre pandemic on a weekly basis. Although keeping to the 15km/h sign posted speed limit is near impossible on a scooter. Apart from that, I don't think locals are too familiar with speed limit signs anyway. Anyway... this is a Canggu ride through, we take the short cut through the "Canggu Shortcut" and cut through to Umalas. Enjoy the ride. It was a good for a look around, however, I wont be back anytime soon. Canggu is not really my scene.
