This week Julien's Auctions own Mitchell Kaba and pop culture specialist Ben Raphael Sher have brought a twist on the Christmas spirit with a Will Ferrell worn BLUE Buddy the Elf costume, from the 2003 Christmas favorite ELF. This ELF: WILL FERRELL ALTERNATE BLUE "BUDDY" COSTUME An original Buddy the elf costume from the production of Jon Favreau's classic holiday comedy Elf (New Line Cinema, 2003). This alternate blue version of Will Ferrell's signature green costume in the film was made when New Line Cinema's legal department became concerned that the production could face a lawsuit from Rankin/Bass Productions if Ferrell's costume was too similar to that of the Head Elf in the seminal Christmas TV special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, to which Elf openly plays homage. The studio was concerned that the film would be unreleasable. As an attempted fix, Ferrell filmed several scenes in a blue Buddy costume.
