SONIC FORCES (PS4) - Episode Shadow: Enemy Territory S Rank (Hard Mode)

Forgive me father, for I have sinned. I caved and bought the game during a sale using a gift card my cousin gave me for Christmas. The game's okay, but I kinda like Episode Shadow more than the main game. Overall, I'd give the game a 6/10. It's very mediocre, but you can have some fun in it. It's not as good as Adventure/Adventure 2/Heroes/Unleashed/Colors/Generations/Mania, but it's not outright terrible, I guess; it's around Lost World-tier, but with sloppier controls and mechanics. Story's not that great, even if it's a small step above the garbage we had in Colors and Lost World, but once again, the pay off was weak, and they do jack shit to explain half the shit that's going on, on top of retconning a big chunk of the canon/lore (Classic Sonic is from 'another dimension' now, Sonic's World and Earth are now two separate planets, humans aren't in the game despite it being about 'war', and Green Hill is part of a continent now instead of being part of South Island, and they never explained why there's sand everywhere in Green Hill, or what the hell the Phantom Ruby even is, and its connection to Classic Sonic and his dimension, and why does Eggman have 'prototypes' randomly lying around). Yes, I know there's a Digital Web Comic, and it does jackshit to explain things, and the stuff it DOES try to explain contradicts the game itself. It's not consistent, but I guess that's to be expected in a franchise that stopped being consistent decades ago. Then you have Chaos and 'Evil' Shadow, who amount to nothing in the story and are quickly defeated in cutscenes; they don't get boss fights, but you get to fight ZAVOK though, because everybody LOVES Lost World! /sarcasm Come on, get your shit together, SEGA/"Sonic Team"/whoever fucking makes Sonic games now. But hey, at least Shadow's playable again, even though he only has 3 levels. I honestly think they should've made Shadow a main protagonist instead of Classic Sonic or the Avatar. Would've made the story a lot more interesting, since Classic does nothing and the Avatar just magically becomes friends with everyone and can apparently fight on par with the Sonics/Shadow because reasons. I'd say I'd want Sonic Team to go back to the Adventure style (minus the genre roulette of course), but Modern Sonic Team would most likely find a way to screw that up too, since the team members from the Genesis/Mega Drive games all the way up to Generations are mostly gone now and have either moved on to other companies (Nintendo and Square Enix) or just straight-up made their own (Naka's company, PROPE). Face it folks, the Sonic you grew up with is long gone and never coming back. I'd say it's getting pretty safe to jump off this ship, if you haven't already.
