(22 Jan 2020) Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in Bogota on Tuesday to call on Colombian President Ivan Duque to abandon plans for tax reform. Police made a number of arrests and fired tear gas to disperse protesters who threw Molotov cocktails. The demonstrators took to the streets to demand free education and healthcare services. They were also calling on the government to introduce measures to prevent the murder of human rights activists, and to forge a peace agreement with leftist rebels. "We are fighting for the students, for the indigenous people, the farmers because we want free education and healthcare," said on protester. The protests against the Colombian government and the President began over two months ago on November 21.
