Let's Play Super Mario World - Part 5A: Beware the Forest's...Caterpillars?

Three videos in one day...! Without further ado, here I am in World 5, the infamous Forest of Illusion, with less clumsy playing than in part 3, but more clumsy speech. Forest of Illusion 1 is quite easy, and it introduces another new enemy: Wiggler, sprite 86. It also brings back Goombas, who, as I mentioned, don't show up very often in this game. Forest of Illusion 2 is the first underwater stage I've done, and I have to say, it is NOT one of my favorite stages. Those stupid Rip Van Fish...yeesh. Forest of Illusion 3 is interesting...for the first few screens. It's kind of a cool stage, I guess, but it's pretty much the same thing all the way through. Aside from one Splittin' Chuck, the only enemies are the sprites in bubbles (sprite 9D). The dark background adds to the atmosphere, though. Forest Ghost House has another blue P-switch door blocked by coins, but this time, it's a little harder to get to. I honestly don't know if I've EVER made it through the Boo ceiling gauntlet without taking a hit. The first part reminds me of Ludwig's castle, although it is slightly easier. Forest of Illusion 4 brings back another classic enemy: Lakitu. He's lean, he's mean, he's sprite 1E, and he throws Spiny eggs (or whatever you want to call them) like there's no tomorrow. He only appears in one other stage in the game, though. Forest of Illusion 4 is considerably less flat than, say, 4-1 in Super Mario Bros., and Lakitu's movement is more erratic this time around, so naturally, things will be more difficult. Technically, he's actually a Fishin' Lakitu, holding that 1-Up on a string. Maybe I yielded to temptation, but it's almost impossible not to accidentally collect that 1-Up sooner or later and make him into a normal Lakitu. Forest of Illusion 4 doesn't lead to Roy's castle, though...
