Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts (PFFM) Press Conference Regarding Recent Arson Fires

BOSTON -- December 5, 2012 -- The Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts today announce a $5,000 award for the information leading to the arrest and conviction of an individual (or individuals) responsible for setting the recent string of arson fires, most recently Monday night at Raynham Park. "Historically December is a tragic month for firefighters," said Edward Kelly, President of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts. "We don't want a repeat of the tragedy of December 2011 where we lost two heroic firefighters, Jon Davies in Worcester and James Rice in Peabody, just days apart from each other. The arson spree in southeastern Massachusetts is needlessly putting the lives of our firefighters in grave danger. We're here today to offer this reward because we want to put a stop to these fires once and for all. We've been lucky that no lives have been lost up until now but the longer these fires continue the greater likelihood that tragedy will strike." "Today we are asking for the public's help in stopping this arsonist. The Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts stand here today offering $5,000 to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible," said Kelly. Anyone with information about any of the fires should call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-682-9229. The fire at Raynham Park is one in a string of fires in recent days in southeastern Massachusetts.
