Elizabeth Cousens: We don't have the political stamina to see through the things we already know. So pandemic experts always talk about this cycle between panic and neglect, right? The minute there's anything approaching a global health threat of that kind of scale, there is panic, there are all kinds of commissions, people learn lessons, they're always the same lessons every single time, and then we go into a cycle of neglect. Because of course the global agenda, the domestic agenda is crowded. It's really easy to get distracted, but what should be a solution is this point of interconnection. There are a handful of things that if we do them right, we actually solve for a larger set of challenges in all of our societies. And we just have to get better at doing that. Brad Smith: And I would just say, we didn't get lucky with vaccines. We got smart. It's the point that Elizabeth just made.
