Only We Can Free Us

A speech at Chicago's huge 2025 May Day protest for workers' and immigrants' rights that was the largest such protest the city had seen in many years. While Chicago's march focused on immigrant and workers rights, it also addressed women's rights, LGBTQ rights, an end to the U.S.-supported genocide in Palestine, opposing the prison industrial complex, and much more. It was one of over 1000 protests organized in the United States on that day. The coalition which organized the Chicago event, Consejo de Resistencia, was endorsed by over 100 organizations. This speech, by Andy Thayer of the Gay Liberation Network, was the 21st at the protest's opening rally.
