|| HELLO! My name is FaZ, I live in Turin, Italy and I've been a musician since age 11. This is the very first video of this channel and I've decided to begin with my favorite mode: lydian. I've planned to upload a backing track video every week, every thursday. I'll try to cover as many genres and styles as possibile, in order to give the "jammer" a complete experience, with quality tracks and some tips about scales, theory and whatnot. It's your creativity (besides your skills of course) that matters, which is why you won't find scales diagrams and stuff like that, I want you to come up with your own ideas and fingering.|| D LYDIAN (4th mode of A Major Scale) The Lydian scale is constructed on the 4th mode of a major scale, in this case A Major scale. In other words, if you play the notes of A major scale against a D chord or a simple modal progression like this one here, you are playing in Lydian mode. Taken as a scale per se, The lydian scale is a major scale with the 4th grade raised a semitone, which gives to it the characteristic "bright" sound you can find in artists such as Frank Zappa, Steve Vai or Joe Satriani. It is a matter of tonic, the A major scale played against an A chord will give you a certain sound, otherwise played against a D chord (4th grade of A major scale) instead , it works as a new tonic, giving you the lydian sound. It's a bit tricky at first, but once you begin to master this concepts, all will be easier! Happy Jam! Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE if you like the content, thank you!
