Beer Barons to Homebrewers

Our first annual event, "Beer Barons to Homebrewers: Tour The Past. Taste The Present." brought nearly 150 people to the Cemetery for a guided tour led by Pennsylvania Brewery Historian Richard Wagner. The tour featured two of the Cemetery's most magnificent mausoleums built by legendary Philadelphia brewers and the opportunity to taste beers homebrewed in the Pre-Prohibition style. A reception in our Conservatory followed the tour where attendees voted for their favorite beer and took home a free custom pint glass. Don Russell, aka Joe Sixpack and Neil Harner, Editorial Director at Philly Beer Scene were among a panel of judges voting for their favorite beer and the homebrew with the most authentic historic connection. In all the judges chose winners among seven brews including bottled entries.
