Batman Forever (1995) - Movie Review | An underrated but still divisive instalment... | Val Kilmer

"Riddle me this, riddle me that... who's afraid of the big black bat?!" Yes, in this Rewind Review, we return to Gotham City to take a look at the third instalment of the Batman movie series; BATMAN FOREVER! In the 1995 movie directed by Joel Schumacher, The Dark Knight must do battle against two new foes; Harvey Dent, who now goes by the name Two-Face, and Edward Nygma who becomes The Riddler. But help is at hand for the Caped Crusader as he is helped by an amorous psychologist and an orphaned circus performer called Dick Grayson, who becomes Batman's sidekick Robin! With it's all-star cast including Val Kilmer, Nicole Kidman and Jim Carrey, Batman Forever was a big hit, earning more than it's predecessor, but the drastic change in tone and aesthetic led to a rather divisive response which has lingered to this day. In this video, I revisit this guilty pleasure to see if it really is an underrated movie or if the negatives outweigh the good... This review contains some spoilers and flashing images throughout!
