Love where you live! If you don't like it, move! Life is simple. Life is short. Waiting around is no way to live. Make it happen. Follow your dreams. The last 12 months have been quite an adventure. To catch you up; I uprooted my family from Chicago so I could expand my real estate business to Scottsdale, Arizona. It took a lot of planning, but I pulled it off. Has it been easy? Absolutely not. I had spent 10 years tirelessly building my business from the ground up. I started in 2014 with zero clients. None. I didn’t have family in Chicago to help me get a couple easy ones to get me going either. I wasn’t born in Chicago, so I only knew so many people and not that many people knew me. It’s a huge city that I’m not from. I wasn’t selling real estate in my home town. I didn’t have that foundation to lean on. When I first started, my friends and people that knew me were skeptical to call me to represent them in their biggest financial transaction of their lives. I painfully understood their hesitancy. It took time to build that trust. And most people don’t buy a house every year, so the people that did want to buy or sell with me some day, well naturally I had to wait until that time came. I made $437 my first year in real estate. Fast forward to 2017 when I won my first Top Producer. I figured I’d made it! I had arrived. Let those referrals flow in. Everybody loved me, so everybody would refer me. I wish I could tell you it was that easy. For some maybe it is, but not for me. I absolutely get referrals, but I was reminded early on that ultimately you have to get out there and work your business. Being a really good agent will only get you so far. You have to ask for business. You have to show people what you can do for them. Show them how you’re going to take every offer personally, while still keeping your professional hat on and negotiate the heck out of every offer.
