The battle of Saint-Lô was the bloodiest campaign during the U.S. liberation of Normandy. In a span of 15 days, the U.S. 29th infantry division lost 3,706 men, 30th infantry division lost 3,934 men, and the 35th infantry division lost 2,473 men. In total, the Allies lost over 11,000 men during this battle.
