This PHO Rounds session will summarize evidence on the impact of treatment on tuberculosis (TB) infectiousness. The policy implications of this evidence will then be discussed leading to a review of the de-isolation guidelines from the recently published 8th Edition of the Canadian TB Standards. This presentation will also discuss de-isolation of people under evaluation of TB and recent data on the role of newer molecular tools; examples will be shared to illustrate key themes and facilitate discussion. By the end of this session, participants will be able to: • Describe the levels of evidence informing de-isolation of individuals on treatment for TB • Outline the new de-isolation guidelines from the Canadian TB Standards, 9th edition • Consider emerging evidence on the use of sputum PCR in removing people in hospital from isolation precautions • Presenter(s): Rebekka Schnitter The presentation can be found here: https://www.publichealthontario.ca/en...
