After losing his wife, Sherry, to metastatic breast cancer at just 37 years old, Scott Naso found himself in a bitter legal battle with her parents over their daughter, Laila. Scott says he became deeply concerned about the medical advice Sherry received from her parents — both doctors — after her cancer symptoms were repeatedly dismissed in the months before her death. “But for Sherry’s parents’ advice,” he insists, “she would still be here.” In the aftermath of Sherry’s death, tensions escalated as Scott accused his in-laws of overstepping boundaries with Laila’s care and filed complaints raising concerns about their medical treatment of his daughter.
