Third Ball Attack (slow motion) exercise for Table Tennis

Third Ball Attack (slow motion) exercise for Table Tennis

This is an exercise to help you develop your third ball attack (playing topspin against backspin) (A) Server starts with a half-long backspin serve (B) Reciever pushes wide towards the diagonal corner (C) Server then has to play topspin open up against the backspin down the line and get a deep placement (hit the cup) This exercise is good because if the server doesn't move from their original position then they are going to be off-balance when they make contact with the ball The reciever can try and push with backspin to different locations on the forehand side and each different placement is a test for the receiver's footwork and timing I like this exercise because it is: relevant to match play starts from a real service involves a change of spin (playing topspin against backspin) timing and movement matter (reciever has to judge the ball position and spin to time that third ball attack) Also it is something you can de as a regular exercise (reciever pushes to the same place) and then extend into an irregular exercise later (reciever pushing to different places on the server's forehand side) Please contact us here or on www.facebook.com/manchestertabletennisclub
