UN chief says Ukraine war an “open wound” 2 years after Russian invasion | FULL

The United Nations (UN) Security Council held a Friday special meeting on the eve of the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the war in Ukraine as “an open wound at the heart of Europe” two years on, adding that it was “high time for peace.” Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told skeptics that Ukraine “will win the war” and won’t allow Russia to kill the country “freely on the road to peace.” He urged world leaders to stand behind Ukraine and said that victory for Ukraine will come “sooner rather than later” with the support. Russia’s UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia countered the attacks by blaming the West, saying that there was “no doubt” that the conflict is lasting longer due to the “sustained support” by the West.
