For this week's theme, I'm talking about two documentaries involving one of the most acclaimed film directors in history. "Making The Shining" is a short film shot and edited by Stanley Kubrick's youngest daughter, Vivian. Apparently during time off from school, Vivian used a sound-equipped 16mm camera to capture a few days during the production of Kubrick's adaptation of the Stephen King novel. The film is a special feature on "The Shining" DVDs and Blurays. You can see it here: • Video "Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures" is a feature length documentary chronicling Kubrick's entire life and career. The film features interviews with many people who worked with Kubrick (Jack Nicholson, Malcom McDowell, Matthew Modine, Nicole Kidman, Shelly Duvall, Tom Cruise), and even a few people who didn't (Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen).
