Elvis Presley - Home Is Where The Heart Is - HD movie version re-edited with RCA/Sony audio

In many of Elvis' musicals, particular the mid sixties variety, many of the romantic songs come across on screen as awkward and out of place often because the song is placed at at a point in the story which stretches credibility, eg "Cross my Heart and Hope To Die" from "Girl Happy" or "Tender Feeling" from "Kissin' Cousins" or even because the leading lady's character does not know how to interact with being serenaded eg during "A World of our Own" in "World's Fair" or "All That I Am" from "Spinout" or sometimes it just that the quality of the song is lacking. However none of these is true for one of the most beautiful and touching ballads performed in this way during one of Elvis' movies in "Home Is Where The Heart Is" where the lead character Walter Gulick serenades his new girlfriend Rose Grogan and the look both on her face and in her eyes, not to mention the way she follows his movements catches the mood superbly. The chemistry between Elvis and Joan Blackman both in "Kid Galahad" and their previous collaboration in "Blue Hawaii" is often overlooked but is caught perfectly during this particular number. In addition a perfectly judged completely committed vocal by Elvis really nails this often too overlooked song which stand alone really well outside the context of the movie. The song itself was recorded by Elvis on 26 October 1961 at Radio Recorders' Studio B in Hollywood and achieved over a mammoth 21 takes with the first twelve takes at a slower tempo before the remainder at the quicker tempo heard in the movie and on the RCA master. Although the complete take was chosen for the movie, it was edited before becoming the official RCA master. As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
