FORECAST: Lingering showers could lead to a few strong storms later today

There are a few lingering showers and storms around the area this morning, but most are staying dry. Today will be a slight break from the heat. Instead of seeing upper 90s, I'm expecting upper 80s or lower 90s. We could see a few strong to severe storms fire up later this afternoon into this evening. The Storms Prediction Center has upgraded portions of the viewing area to a "slight" risk area for severe weather. The primary threat are gusty winds and hail. The tornadic threat is low, but not zero. Make sure you have a way to receive weather alerts. The heat builds in tomorrow, expecting temperatures in the mid-90s to begin the work week.
