How to kick ass and take the Nameless King's name (Dark Souls III)

Ho. Ly. Shit. What a fight. Easily the best boss fight in the game, and one of the best in the series, both aesthetically and gameplay-wise. A few tips: always hit the dragon's head, since you'll do the square root of fuck all, damage-wise, if you go for, say, the legs. This first phase is pretty easy as long as you're patient and time your dodges correctly. I found that in order to dodge his horizontal fire breath, I had to dodge slightly earlier than expected to avoid damage completely. The King's lightning attacks do a lot of damage but are immensely telegraphed, so there's no real need to predict. Just wait, react, and punish. The second phase is a whole different story, but its intensity and difficulty do elevate this fight to greatness. It's no Fume Knight, but it's definitely deliciously hard. (One of the few truly difficult fights in the game, IMHO.) Oh, and if you have it (and can't use greatshields) use the Spirit Tree Crest shield with the 83% damage reduction on lightning attacks, like I did, as it allows you to block some of the King's attacks when you're not sure about rolling.
