Freshman year of college is an exciting time with new opportunities to network and explore yourself outside of your comfort zone Mistakes To Avoid In Freshman Year Of College 1.Not Getting Involved Can't have the full College experience if you stay cooped up in your little bubble and don't slowly venture off from your comfort zone a bit 2.Skipping Dorm Meetings/Events/Faculty Orientations Residence halls and Faculties have "mandatory" meetings that you don't have to attend, but that you definitely should. They give you idea of who you'll be living with for the next semester or spending the next few years with. 3. Don't Forget About Your Family Parents can be annoying, but reach out in some form to them every 2-3 days or so. If anything at least one a week so they know YOU"RE ALIVE lol. Simply a good morning text, 5 minute phone call or send them a funny or motivational video. These little things just let them know you're thinking of them. Your parents always will be your true support system 4.Don't Sign Up For Credit Cards Just For Free Stuff You're likely already in student debt & getting credit that you could potentially use is playing with fire. Stick to your debit card, so that you don't live beyond your means. 5. Staying In Your Dorm/Room 24/7 Get out & smell the roses that is your new school environment. It's okay to go to the dining hall or go out to eat alone. You'll be on your own a decent amount going from class to class anyways. If it's night time maybe bring a pal though aha. 6.Not Checking Your School Emails Check your emails in cases where your professors send one out to you. Keep tabs on them or you just might miss scholarship opportunities, events going on at school or WORSE you arrive to a CANCELLED CLASS smh. 7.Jotting Down important dates In Your Syllabus On Calendar Highly recommend that once you get your syllabus you fill it up with a visual calendar like this one. Buy them second hand from Textbook Exchange groups on Facebook, Free PDF versions online, sharing class textbook with a friend or buying textbooks for cheap on Amazon https://amzn.to/2H45BnS 10.Hanging Out With People From High school There's a reason the two of you weren't friends at all during your 4 years in high school unless you just never hung out with them before and got to new them on a personal level.
