Long Term Academic Funding - Cambridge MP Julian Huppert

During Oral Questions to the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills in the House of Commons 8th July 2010 Cambridge's MP Julian Huppert said that academics decisions on moving to the UK or leaving it depend, in part, on long term security of research funding and asked the minister to commit to make a ten year projection of how much money there is likely to be. Universities Minister David Willetts responded without giving Mr Huppert the commitment he sought, but saying "we are absolutely committed to supporting research in this country.
