Pannage Pigs are released every year to eat the acorns, which are poisonous to the ponies and donkeys that live in the forest. About 600 pigs have been released this year. Pannage season dates back to William the Conqueror. If you are exploring the forest this autumn and come across pigs, please remember to keep your distance, and do not feed them.
