Quantum discord as a measure of non-classical correlations in a Majorana-based device

I first introduce quantum entanglement and how it violates local realism. I then explore quantum discord -a measure of non-classical correlations which includes quantum entanglement, but also quantum correlations not necessarily due to entanglement. I also introduce Majorana quasiparticles in wires and how quantum discord might aid our understanding of their quantum states. A thorough understanding of their states is thought to be a necessary step towards their implementation in quantum computing. Studying quantum discord in a Majorana-based device has been the topic of my Masters research project at Lancaster University this year.
