D'ya know...it ain't that long ago (in the scheme of things) that blends were all the rage. No-one really cared for single malts and, well, blended whiskies were all we really knew. Have we, as whisky enthusiasts, outgrown them or...has the quality of the inexpensive blend simply dropped to a point where it would now struggle to raise a smile!? Also used to describe whiskies made in column stills. Blended Malt: Whisk(e)y made by blending single malts from more than one distillery. Blended Grain: Whisk(e)y made by blending single grains from more than one distillery. Blended Scotch or Blend (any other country): Whisky made by blending single malt and single grain (whiskies) from one or more distilleries. Chill Filtered: A process performed by some producers which sees the whisk(e)y chilled to around 0°to10°, before being screen filtered to remove oily residue left over from the maturation. N.A.S.
