A grand gathering to mark the event was held in Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region. A senior official of the Chinese Communist Party led a central delegation to attend the celebrations. The delegation presented commemorative plaques and banners to the Autonomous Region and its institutions. Tibet now has started a new journey of modernization after decades of leapfrog development. In 2019, all registered poor residents in Tibet had shaken off poverty. This marked the elimination of absolute poverty in the region for the first time in history.
