The labor force participation rate between 2000 and 2016 dropped from 67.3 to 62.7. Because of the strong economy, that number has bumped up to 63.3 as of October 2019. That still represents a 4% drop since the high in 2000, and each percentage point represents approx. 2.5 million people.
