Shanghai based MMA coach and Kunlun Fight Combat League ringside commentator Ramsey Dewey shows a martial arts technique from a an old taijiquan (tai chi) form that is also used in many other martial arts and combat sports including freestyle wrestling, sanda, and Muay Thai. This is a demonstration of this technique used in several sparring sessions under MMA rules, Muay Thai rules, and no gi BJJ. This is not a tutorial. And this is definitely not an apologetics piece to make people who do tai chi forms but don’t actually ever spar or fight feel good about themselves. The forms of the various taichi styles include a syllabus of throws, takedowns, sweeps, trips, arm drags, wrist locks, and arm locks.The slow motions forms of tai chi are largely shadow wrestling movements. However, these movements were originally intended to be used in the context of a fight involving both striking and grappling.
