Covid 19: 629 new cases, six deaths

Covid-19 cases continued to surge today, with the Health Ministry recording 629 new cases as of noon, bringing the number of active cases in the country to 6,323. This raised Malaysia's cumulative tally of infections to 18,758. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, speaking at a press conference today, said from the new cases, 627 were local transmissions, comprising 577 Malaysians and 50 foreigners. Six deaths were reported today, bringing the overall death toll to 176. This translates to a fatality rate of 0.9 per cent out of the total number of cases.
