Today was an interesting day. I managed to catch some Red Tail Opelu in the morning in deep water. The school was congregating near the bottom in 300'+ After catching bait I trolled around with no success. I stumbled upon another school and dropped my sabiki rig down to the bottom where I hooked into my biggest Weke Nono! What a pleasant surprise. A few hours later something smoked my Opelu. After a fun battle, I managed to bring in my biggest Kawakawa to date. https://www.instagram.com/jifishingco... https://www.jifishingco.com/ Opelu Setup Rod: Shimano Trevala M Reel: Shimano Grappler CT151XG Line: PE 1.5 Sabiki: Homemade Grubs: Blue/Green color Live Bait Setup Rod: Shimano Terez Heavy Reel: Shimano Thunnus 12000 Line: 50lb PowerPro Leader: 40lb Fluorocarbon Bait: Live Opelu Heavy Jigging Setup Rod: Shimano Game Type J Heavy Reel: Shimano Ocea Jigger 2001NR-XG Line: Seaguar PE 3 Leader: 40lb Fluorocarbon Jig: 200g JI Fishing Co.
