The Raleigh Police Department was roundly criticized when they asserted that the #OpenNC protest this past weekend was in violation of the governor's stay-at-home order. The Raleigh PD stated that protesting was "not an essential activity." Essentially, the law enforcement body tasked with defending the laws of the United States of America told the citizens of North Carolina that the First Amendment was not protected during a pandemic. You might think the Raleigh PD would learn its lesson, but less than 24 hours later they doubled down on their tyranny. Shameful.
