Multistage Transistor Amplifier A single-stage transistor amplifier has one transistor + associated resistors and capacitors that can only provide limited voltage gain (usually 10–500). In practice, we often need very high gain, high input impedance, low output impedance, and specific frequency response, which a single stage cannot provide → hence multistage amplifiers. A multistage amplifier is formed by cascading (connecting in series) two or more single-stage amplifiers. Output of one stage → fed as input to the next stage (through coupling networks).
