Love Me Tender(Film,Love Me Tender 1956)

Love Me Tender is a 1956 American musical Western film directed by Robert D. Webb, and released by 20th Century Fox on November 15, 1956.The film, named after the song, stars Richard Egan, Debra Paget, and Elvis Presley in his acting debut. It was the only time in his acting career that he did not receive top billing. Love Me Tender was originally to be titled The Reno Brothers, but when advanced sales of Presley's "Love Me Tender" single passed one million—a first for a single—the film's title was changed to match.Love Me Tender was the first of three films in which he played an historical figure. The others were Frankie & Johnny(which takes place in the 1890s) and The Trouble With Girls (which takes place in 1927) Cinematography Elvis memorized all of his lines, as well as those of his other characters, during filming. He found filming extremely arduous, once telling a friend that he "spent all day behind a pack of mules." Elvis recorded all of the film's songs and finished filming his scenes in just over a month. The film's climax, particularly Elvis's character's death scene, was shot at Bell Moving Picture Ranch in the Santa Susana Mountains in the western San Fernando Valley, just outside Los Angeles. The filming location, sometimes referred to by historians as "Rocky Hill," remained shrouded in mystery for nearly 60 years until a location scouting expedition discovered it in early 2015. By combining information from "Love Me Tender" and Victor Mature's film "Escort West," which was also filmed in "Rocky Hill," the scouting crew was able to identify the filming location. During filming, Weisbert said Elvis "was humble, polite, and attentive. He was cooperative with us, never late, and very serious about his acting. This was a different kind of career for him." On September 9, Elvis appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show during a break from filming and performed "Love Me Tender" for the first time. Two weeks later, RCA confirmed that the single had been certified gold prior to its release, an industry first. (Pre-orders were 1 million copies, and it ultimately sold 2 million.) On September 2, Fox announced that the film's title would be changed from "The Reno Brothers" to "Love Me Tender." "I think he adds a tremendous amount of value to the role," Weisbert said. "His presence will surprise many who come to see him, as he is merely a gimmick. He is actually acting within a real story, and he does it very well. He sings, but the script is so well-constructed that the situations are logical... post-war, family together... bazaars, picnics. These are folk songs and hoedowns, but with the exception of the title ballad, they have Elvis rhythms. His long brown hair and sideburns also look authentic from a period perspective." #elvis #presley #love me #tender #epic #king #entertainment #entertainer #elvis #fans #america #icon #king #of #music #rocknroll #rock #country #bruce #gospel #americandream #the #king #rock #music #king #of #entertainment #handsome #cool #greatest #great #legend, #superstar #greatest #singer #1956s
