A 13-year-old boy saved 66 lives | Michigan schoolboy hailed hero
A 13-year-old Michigan schoolboy has been hailed a hero after he took control of a school bus that was carrying 66 students and brought it to a safe stop when the driver lost consciousness. Dillon Reeves, a student at Carter Middle School in Warren, Michigan, leaped to the front of the bus from his seat about five rows back and took control of the wheel. A video of the incident shows the bus driver messaging officials that she was not feeling well and might need to pull over. The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon when students were returning home from Carter Middle School. According to the school's superintendent, Robert Livernois, the bus driver "became lightheaded and lost consciousness." Shortly after, the driver lost grip of the steering wheel, falling limp, and students were heard screaming as the bus started to veer from its lane. Dillon saw the driver in distress and immediately stepped forward to help. He took control of the bus and brought it to a stop, avoiding a potential tragedy. After stopping the bus, Dillon shouted out for someone to call 911. The cause of the bus driver's illness is not yet known.
