KD and Steph still had something to say and tried to keep the series alive. THe game started out with the Warriors going up 10-4 early on forcing an early timeout. Bulls regrouped and Scottie Pippen helped the Bulls get back into the game and tied the game at the end of the 1st quarter. Michael Jordan exploded for 18 pts in the second quarter to help the Bulls grab a 55-49 advantage going into the half. In the 3rd quarter, Klay THompson hit 2 consecutive 3's to start a 10-4 run that had the Warriors squarely back in the game. Kevin Durant and Kaly THompson were starting to find their range, usually a bad sign for the Bulls. Klay had 12 on 5/8 shooting including 2/3 from 3. Jordan was having a tough day on the field, shooting just 3/10. But his partner in crime picked up the slack. Scottie Pippen had a brilliant 3rd quarter, and with Toni Kukoc, the Bulls finished the quarter strong, and the Bulls had a 3-pt lead going into the 4th quarter. The Bulls got off to a good start in the 4th quarter, and it looked like they may ve on the way to closing this series out. They led by as much as 7 with 9 mins to go. But Jordan and Co. suddenly went cold, while Kevin Durant and Steph Curry caught fire. IN this run, KD also took the task of guarding MJ and MJ struggled. Warriors managed to turn the tables and lead by as much as 5. With MJ, continuing to struggle, PIppen stepped up and helped the Bulls get to within 2 with over 4 mins to go. But Kevin Durant would deliver killer blows, scoring on 2 consecutive 3-pointers and a long transition jumper to up their lead to 10 with 2:54 to go. Jordan and the Bulls would make a spirited comeback, with MJ hitting 3 straight baskets and Pippen escaping on a fastbreak layup to bring the lead down to 3 with 26 secs to go. KD drove on the next possession and drew a foul on Pippen with 24.9 secs to go to keep the Bulls rally at bay. He makes the 1st but misses the second and the Bulls throw it to MJ on the break who would make a clutch spin move vs CUrry to cut the lead to 2 with 18 secs left. CUrry would get fouled and he would make both FT's to give the Warriors a 4 pt lead with 17 secs left. Jordan would miss on a tough fadeaway over Klay with 6 secs to go and that would be the final nail. Warriors with a spirited comeback in the 4th quarter win in Game 5, 113-109 The GS Warriors trio of KD, Curry, and Klay combined for 105 pts, led by Kevin Durant who finished with 34. Steph and Klay had 29 & 27 , respecitvely. Green was also in double digits with 15. Jordan and PIppen both had 30+ points but was not enough to offset the Warriors Big 3. MJ had 38, Pippen 34.
