I managed to fix the lag issue. The "Objects" setting on ultra is way too intensive, I think it adds tessellation or something. Anyway, I set it one bit lower, and put the quality mod back on. It's quite smooth now. The lack of commentary is to provide a more immersive experience for the story by providing better graphics and having the viewer experience the story without interrupts even if they don't have the game themselves.
