Absolute Must Listen Live Version of Lata ji's song - Bahon me chale aa Sung Live by Ustad Riyaz Ali Khan, Late Ustad Imtiaz Ali Khan accompanied by the one and only Tabla-Nawaaz Late Sajjad Ali Khan Live in Toronto with Music by Karim Vellani. This song version is dedicated to these 3 artists, 2 of which have left us for heaven already and also to Lata jee, the Late RD Burman and Late Majrooh Sultanpuri - my little humble effort to honour them and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to meet and perform with these amazing musicians. There is a true story behind this version. I met Ustad Riyaz Ali Khan, Late Ustad Imtiaz Ali Khan and Late Tabla Nawaaz Sajjad Ali Khan at one of my friend's house after their arrival to Canada for some ghazal concerts more than 25 years ago. My friend played a music video of my band performing Bahon me chale aa with the Cassette Queen of T-Series, Vandana Bajpai with whom we had just performed this song. They really liked the song and my playing and asked me to perform with them in a few live concerts which was a great honour for me. All 3 artists were truly professional and very talented and versatile musicians. Ustad Riyaz Ali Khan & Late Ustad Imtiaz Ali Khan were brothers and Ustad Late Sajjad Ali Khan was related to them also. Unfortunately, Ustad Imtiaz Ali Khan passed away at a young age and Ustad Sajjad Ali Khan passed away at a shocking 43 years of age. This was a big shock to the everyone in the music field and a truly very sad day for music lovers around the world. Ustad Riyaz Ali Khan is now helping his 2 sons who are both clasically trained in the music field to continue their legacy. This song was recorded on a "cassette" more than 25 years ago in a basement of someone's house and I had done the sound for this show also. I have listened to their music many times but when recently I received a Whatsapp forward of this song from someone claiming that Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali & Ustad Ghulam Ali are actually singing this song in the presence of Lata Mangeshkhar somewhere upon her request. This was not true at all and this song was actually sung and performed by these 3 fabulous artists. To give them their credit, I decided to "Digitally Enhance and Remaster" this recording of more than 25 years ago. Although they were ghazal/sufi singers and players, they sang this song beautifully and I am sure that if Lata jee listened to their version, she would also like it a lot. As you all already know, Lata jee sang this pretty song for the Bollywood movie, Anamika back in 1973 with Music composed by Pancham Daa, R.D Burman and the lyrics were penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri. The song was picturized on none other than Jaya Bhaduri Bachan. Hope all of you like this version and share it with your friends and family and please give proper credit to Ustad Riyaz Ali Khan, Late Ustad Imtiaz Ali Khan & Late Sajjad Ali Khan for rendering this beautiful song and remember them in your prayers. God bless all of you, stay safe, healthy & happy during these uncertain times.
