Wide of people watching exhibition STORYLINE: Artists and volunteers gathered in Mexico City on Friday for the fourth 'Polyforum Cultural Siqueiros' or 'Body Painting Encounter' . The multidisciplinary encounter brings together different visual artists with the aim of creating ephemeral art on naked bodies. For one of the volunteers, Marina Arizbeth, body painting is a good way for artists to express themselves. "I think this is a visual proposal, and the audience comes here to see the artist's proposal, and what the scenic artist wants to say and express", she said. Penelope Rivera, one of the exhibition's organisers, said that a wide variety of people came to view the performance artwork on display. "We have here a very diverse audience, we haven't had any problems. Some of them come first with a bit of morbidity but then they move to a next level when there's an artistic purpose, it becomes something completely different." The performance lasts only 12 hours, during which time artists work on their naked volunteers. The results are photographed videoed for display in future exhibitions. The first Body Painting Encounter took place in September 25, 2003.
