Maria Sibylla Merian´s 366th Birthday - Google Doodle

April 2, 2013 Today Google honors Maria Sibylla Merian´s 366th Birthday with a Doodle. She was born on April 2, 1647 in Frankfurt. She was a scientific illustrator, naturalist and entomologist. Maria Sibylla Merian studied insects and plants. And then she made detailed paintings about those insects and plants. The detailed observations she made and the documentation of the metamorphosis of butterflies made her a significant contributor to entomology. She died on January 13, 1717 in Amsterdam.
