He was also a former rebel leader, who, alongside Laufey, led a failed coup against the Aesir, in which he was severely punished. He has a pet squidopus named Dínner. A minor official of the Dwarven city, Niðavellir. At one time, an ally of Faye's in an effort to resist Odin. Now, he numbs his failures in drink. Yet it appears he has aided us with a map to Týr's location. Also, his sea-creature, Dinner, gave Atreus an unusual stone. Norse Mythology In Norse mythology, Durinn (Old Norse: [ˈdurenː]; or Durin) is a dwarf according to stanza 10 of the poem Völuspá from the Poetic Edda, and repeated in Gylfaginning from the Prose Edda. He was the second created after the first and foremost dwarf Mótsognir. He is also attested in Hervarar saga, where he forged the magic sword Tyrfing with the help of the dwarf Dvalin. In variant texts of the saga Durinn is known as Dulinn. In the God of War Series Durlin was once a rebel leader. Forging an alliance with Laufey the Just, he tried to lead a coup with the dwarves in an attempt to resist the Aesir. During that time, he created a forge hammer that became a symbol of the Dwarven Resistance. Unfortunately, however, the rebellion turned out to be a failure as the Aesir was able to put it down. Durlin then had his head was burned by Heimdall as punishment while Laufey escapes. The Aesir then confiscated Durlin's hammer and hid it underneath a giant stone statue, where it remained hidden for centuries. In the coming years, Durlin would bitterly drink over his failures. =================== GamePlay Walkthrough =================== Nidavellir ======== After freaking out all the dwarves with your presence, dock the boat and follow Atreus. Sindri will show up with a convenient shop and the quest progresses. After getting Atreus’ Sonic bow, keep an eye out for green, shiny metal that he can break or open with a bow shot. There is extra loot scattered throughout the rest of the quest line that can be accessed with a sonic bow shot. Next, go through the sewers and follow the path to the tavern. In the tavern, you’ll meet Raeb, who will explain that Durlin can be found on an island. Sail to his house, seek side objectives on the way, and after meeting Durlin and going out his backdoor, Kratos and Atreus come to a clearing. Defeat the enemies and have Atreus shoot the green shiny target to jump to the hanging platform in the right corner. Follow the quest marker to a large wooden gate that Kratos will open. Dwarven Trainride =============== The father and son find a little dwarf train to ride. Follow the path after exiting the train. After a bit, there’s a Nornir chest to the right, but Kratos won’t have the gear to open this chest until later in the game. This is a good spot to make sure Kratos is full health and ready for a fight. Atreus will lead Kratos to a small, square opening. Go through to start the fight with the Dreki, the first mini-boss of the quest. Dreki Fight ======== The Dreki is a giant gator-like monster with sharp, exaggerated teeth. It's at its most dangerous during leaping and tail attacks. The red un-blockable attacks from the Dreki include a spitting ranged attack that can be dodged sideways, but make sure Kratos moves quickly. The Blades of Chaos are the better weapon option for the fight here because of the increased range. However, try to throw the Leviathan Axe in between for Frost. As its health gets low, the Dreki will become electrified so make sure to watch out for its area-of-effect smash and increased damage. Once its health is low enough, an R3 will prompt a cinematic execution. Dwarven Trainride 2 ================ Follow Atreus until Kratos finds a crack in a wall, go through, and make your way down towards the mine. Kratos will find another train cart, but this one needs some realignment first. Once on the rails, Kratos and Atreus are off again. Use the button prompts to fight back in the cutscene. The train will crash, and it’s time to fight off some lizard enemies. After that, have Atreus shoot the green stuff blocking the giant ferris wheel-looking thing in the center. Then move on to the right, top corner, shoot more stuff and follow the path. Kratos is confronted with more enemies and after following the path going downward, he’ll use the Blades of Chaos to cross a gap. Throw a weapon at the red jars by the gold-looking substances to explode them. Crouch through the tunnel and jump down where the white markings are Give this video a THUMBS UP if you haven't already!
