Trump Says He'll Work Fast to Nix Trade Deficits

(15 Nov 2017) President Donald Trump says he'll work "as fast as possible" to eliminate sizable trade deficits with U.S. trading partners. Trump said Wednesday that a key goal of his just-concluded Asia trip was to insist on fair and reciprocal trade. He says it's "unacceptable" that the U.S. trade deficit with other nations stands at about $800 billion a year. Trump says, "We are going to start whittling that down as fast as possible." He did not say how he planned to achieve that goal. Trump is recapping what he says are the successes of his nearly two-week trip to Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. Trump also paused his address to the nation to take a swig of water — twice. Trump first reached into the lectern to seek water and required help from others in the room to spot a bottle on a nearby table. He took another drink a few minutes later. During the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump frequently mocked then-rival Florida Sen. Marco Rubio's frequent water breaks. Reporters at the White House also asked Trump Wednesday whether Moore should step aside or whether he believed Moore's accusers after his lengthy recap of his foreign travels this year. Trump walked off without answering any questions.
